image 1851, 1¢ blue, type Ib (Scott 5A), position 6R1E, a magnificent example of the stamp in supreme color, with top margin adjoining the ornaments at top left to clearing, the others clear to large (see portions of stamps below and at right), tied by black grid cancel to folded letter sheet—an 1851-dated printed notice—to Detroit, with bold red Chicago postmark at left; light file folds affect neither stamp nor markings, Very Fine+++, an exhibit-worthy first-year usage of this tremendously rare stamp, a top notch example of a rare stamp usage, ex Hind, Hall, Rhoades, with 2001 P.F. certificate.
