image Cayman Islands, 1868 Incoming cover from the U.S. via Jamaica, cover from Newton, Mass. to Kingston, Jamaica via American Packet, redirected to Grand Cayman; franked with a pair of 10¢ green (68) paying double the 10¢ rate to the West Indies; postmarked with a Nov 10 Newton, Mass. c.d.s. with a manuscript "8d" in blue crayon (probably applied in error as it appears to have been crossed out); light British P.O., Colon, Panama transit c.d.s. on the front (Dec 2?) and backstamped Kingston transit c.d.s. (Dec 9); a few ink spots and some toning at the edges, Fine to Very Fine. Believed to be the only recorded incoming 19th century cover from the U.S. An exceptional usage from the time of the Post-Civil War Reconstruction period.
