image Bahamas, "PAID AT BAHAMAS" Crowned circle handstamp, clear strike in red on a small envelope rated manuscript "4" with a nice strike of the straightline "BAHAMAS/ SHIP LETTER" handstamp and a very faint Bahamas double-arc datestamp on the reverse; cleaned and repaired, but still attractive and the only recorded example of this Crowned Circle used on a Ship Letter within the Colony, Ex-Ludington.

Gibbons, Gibbes Barbados, franked with a 1865-73 6d. lilac tied by a Newport, Isle of Wight "1560" duplex, Sep 16; countersigned by Edmund Jeffrey, "Comding. 5th District Battalion" alongside an Oct 6 Barbados "8" (St. Thomas) c.d.s.; backstamped with a red Sep 17 London transit and an Oct 4 Barbados "1" (St. Michael) c.d.s.; small repaired flap tear, stamp wit slightly rounded lower left corner; otherwise Fine and rare. Believed to be the only recorded example of a properly endorsed officer's letter incoming to the British West Indies. Also included is a small 1845 stampless cover addressed to a soldier in Demerara, British Guiana and redirected to Barbados.
