image Magnificent balance of Parcel Post Postal History exhibition collection, presented to a high standard, comprising roughly 150 items: envelopes (approximately 125), postcards (15), fronts (2), parcel labels or wrappers (8) and parcel tags (4); domestic mail represented by first class mail with July 1913 early dates, third class (printed matter), and parcel post usages, numerous advertising corner card covers, registered, perfins, and foreign mail U.P.U. and treaty rates, with an amazing array of frankings and mixed usages for the various rates; the domestic mail including 1¢ Parcel Post (#Q1) tied by "Disinfected" handstamp on postcard; 1¢ and 2¢ Parcel Post (#Q1, Q2) and 2¢ Parcel Post Postage Due (#JQ2) in combination with 10¢ Special Delivery on separate covers (3, the Due applied on arrival from Wacoma, Oklahoma to Hubbard, Texas); 2¢ Parcel Post (#Q2) with 10¢ Registration Stamp (#F1) on covers (2); 15¢ Parcel Post (#Q7) on registered cover, on registered 1¢ postal stationery envelope, and on large insured parcel front with 8¢ Washington-Franklin pair; 20¢ Parcel Post (#Q8) on parcel label; 25¢ Parcel Post (#Q9), three frankings comprising 25¢ with 1¢ Washington-Franklin on 1914 registered cover from Alice, Texas to Los Angeles, 25¢ with 1¢ Washington-Franklin on registered cover front, and 25¢ with 1¢ Washington-Franklin and 10¢ Panama-Pacific on parcel label, while the foreign destinations (50 covers or cards) include Argentina, Australia, Austria, Canada, France, Germany with "round-the-world" cover and two treaty rate covers carried on German steamers, Great Britain, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Salvador, Russia (on returned cover bearing 15¢), Switzerland, Thailand, and Turkey; some covers not yet written up, but these significantly enhance this wonderful Postal History collection which, in spite of some faults as to be expected, provides an excellent nucleus for further expansion, Fine to Very Fine overall.

($1.56 at 12¢ per pound + 10¢ registration fee = $1.66; foreign parcels could not be insured, but only registered); the tag has crumpling which also affects the adhesives, nevertheless Fine appearance and a rare franking with the 50¢.

($1.80 at 12¢ per pound + 5¢ insurance + 8¢ War Tax = $1.93), and an unusual example of the war tax levied on parcels (1¢ for each 25¢ or fractional part thereof charged for Parcel Post postage) from December 1, 1917 - January 1, 1922, for which payment with Internal Revenue stamps was compulsory.
