image 1893, Columbian, 8¢ magenta, printed on both sides (Scott 236 var.), block of 4, clear right reading impression on reverse (inverted in relation to regular printing), the debate rages as to whether this constitutes a secondary offset or a true double printing, unlisted in Scott but with 1978 Philatelic Foundation as genuine variety, o.g., hinge remnant, bottom two never hinged, rare and fascinating error/variety, front side is bright and vibrant and moderately well centered, the printing on back is displaced to the bottom right but being a block presents a complete image, Very Fine, a striking example, with 1978 P.F. certificate.
