The Cleveland to Erie route was contracted to the Cleveland, Painesville & Ashtabula Rail Road, in July 1856 it was Route 9097 of 96 miles at $21,600 a year for a twice daily service.

THE FINER OF ONLY TWO RECORDED EXAMPLES OF THIS RARE ROUTE AGENT CDS.

Incorporated as the Akron Branch of the Cleveland & Pittsburgh Rail Road in March 1851 and opened in 1853 as the Cleveland, Zanesville & Cincinnati to serve the coal fields of the Millersburg region. The first contract was for Route 10424 in February 1855 at $1,830 a year for a daily service excluding Sundays on the 61¼-mile route.

Carried north on Route 10424 to Hudson on March 10th 1855 for transfer through Cleveland to Buffalo.

On November 4, 1874 the Paris and Decatur Railroad merged with the Paris and Terre Haute Railroad and the Peoria, Atlanta, and Decatur Railroad, thus forming the Illinois Midland Railroad. Trains would often be 24, 48, or even 72 hours in making a round trip from Terre Haute to Decatur. In 1886, The Illinois Midland was sold under foreclosure and in February of 1887 it was reorganized as the Terre Haute and Peoria Railroad.

The Route Agent service between Logansport, Indiana and Peoria, Illinois was performed over the course of two contracts in 1875. Route 22013 between Logansport and the Indiana State Line by the Pittsburgh, Cincinnati & St. Louis of 61 miles at $4,575 a year and State Line to Peoria on Route 23027. The latter was 228¾ miles State Line to Warsaw at $16,612 a year with the Toledo, Peoria & Warsaw Rail Road. The service was for a daily trip excluding Sundays.
