Blue cds with 5¢ dark brown (1a), four clear to mostly large margins with intense color, on blue 1847 folded letter from Philadelphia Pa. to New York City; certificate mentions "slightly oxidized", however in our opinion it is nothing but a dark early shade with sharp, first printing impression, cover with tiny bit on staining, Very Fine,ex-Mirsky, with 2003 P.F. certificate. Although posted onto a mail car at Baltimore the letter must have been carried on Route 1902 Baltimore to Washington. Some Route Agents operated between Philadelphia and Washington and in this instance he picked up the incorrect route agent marking instead of the "WASHINGTON RAIL ROAD" which should have been applied.
