image Packet Steamer Amanda. Bold strike of blue oval handstamp on 1854, 3¢ Nesbitt entire (U10) to New Orleans with black cds & matching straight line "Steam" handstamp, Extremely Fine and choice, a lovely cover, ex-Hill.
Milgram No. 42; Estimate $300 - 400.

"Amanda" of 142 gross tons was built at Louisville in 1852 for the Mobile - New Orleans trade. In April 1857, she was purchased by Henry Tucker with Capt. N.C. Briggs as Master operating on the Red River.
