image 1938, $2 Presidential. Used with 10¢ Prexie (815), tied by two strikes of "New York, N.Y., Wall St. Sta. Dec 6, 1941" duplex on legal-size airmail cover to Alexandria, Egypt at three-times the 70¢ airmail rate, purple Egyptian "Postal Censor" octagon censor handstamp and censor tape at left, Cairo (2.28) transit backstamp; opened at top, Very Fine and early commercial FAM 22 use carried on second flight.

This cover is from the same correspondence as the Dec. 1st 1941 cover that was routed via Trans-Pacific FAM 14 and held in Hawaii by censors before being rerouted on the trans-Atlantic FAM 22 route. However, this cover was sent on the trans-Atlantic FAM 22 route that was inaugurated on Dec. 6th, carried on the second FAM 22 flight and arriving in Egypt almost a month before the Dec. 1st cover.

The 70¢ per ½ ounce trans-Atlantic FAM 22 rate to Egypt was effective December 6, 1941.
