AN EXTREMELY RARE CORNER CARD FROM SHIP CHANDLER AND HAWAIIAN MAIL FORWARDER THOMAS SPENCER.
Capt. Thomas Spencer operated a ship chandlery in Honolulu from 1851 until 1861 when he moved to Hilo. He used at least two different style forwarder handstamps, a red oval handstamp used in 1852 and later an octagonal handstamp known used between 1855 and 1857 when this cover was sent.
