Three binders of covers, including nice group of stampless from 1820s-40s, pretty use with #24 strip of three tied by blue cds and another with solo #24 on drop cover, few forwarded, range of auxilliary markings including "Advertised", few with 1861 Issue stamps with negative "UV" cancels including one Black Jack, #26 used on John Bell of Tenn. campaign envelope used 1860 to Staunton Va.; several CSA usages incl. Jul. 1861 part printed drop use with ms. "2" rating, soldiers's letters with ms. "10" due (two), one with partial blue oval "10" (unlisted), two usages with blue framed "Paid" and "5" rating handstamp (CSA B $300 each), used to soldier with framed "Paid" and ms. "10" rating; Independent state use with U.S. #26 pencil tied and with "University of Virginia, Va, May 17th 1861" blue cds with framed "Forwarded" and "3" due handstamp to Talladega Ala., extends thru early 20th Century with No. C3 tied by duplex, few faults, overall a F.-V.F. and fascinating group covering a wide time frame.
