AN EXCEPTIONALLY RARE 6D RED BROWN AUCKLAND ROULETTE AND 6D RED BROWN IMPERF COMBINATION FRANKING.

This is the first recorded letter written by Quartermaster Robert Laver of the 12th. Regiment from the Auckland Camp to his wife care of the 12th Regiment, Victoria Barracks.

The identity of the shades suggest that the stamps may have been from the same sheet.

A CHOICE EXAMPLE OF THIS EXCEEDINGLY DIFFICULT AND RARE STAMP.

The postmaster at Nelson used several experimental wheels to separate stamps, the commonest being the serrate 18. Most examples known are cancelled with the numeral "15" barred oval. A few are cancelled at local post offices, Richmond and Motueka.
