image Group of 16 Stampless Folded Letters Mailed from Québec to Montréal, 1815-1820, plus 9 unmailed letters, for a total of 25 items from the correspondence of Martin Bossange (1765-1865), a Montréal book dealer and publisher. Also includes a 1788 Attorney's letter with lovely handwriting re. a business in Montréal (may or may not relate to this correspondence, further research is necessary). A very interesting lot, both for postal historians (with some rate markings and Fleuron postmarks) but also from a historical point of view, as the (English and French) letters give a view of the life of a Montréal businessman in the early 19th century. Wikipedia has a great page on Martin Bossange. See scans for an idea. (Image)
