Collection of 15c Large Queens, all well described in small dealer pages plus some written-up on album pages, with a total of 59 stamps, mostly used but noted at least 7 mint (hinged and never hinged). The collection includes a little of everything, ranging from shades, perforations (saw several 11½ x 12), postmarks (saw a nice 4-ring #27, fancy geometrics), a plate inscription, a single with two rows of perforations at bottom, a watermarked example and more. Overall fine or better, with a few faults noted. (Image)
1868 15c greyish purple Large Queen, Perforated 11½ x 12, mint with original gum, fine. Accompanied by a 2015 Greene Foundation certificate stating "gum is sweated all over". (Image)
1868 15c red lilac Large Queen, a lovely used single, with light, crisp cancel, shorter perf at left top, still very well centred and very fine. (Image)
1868 15c deep blue Large Queen with "Cracked Plate" Constant Variety, from plate position 65, an ideal used example, being centred to right (which best shows the variety) and having a complete Halifax straightline postmark away from the variety. The first we have seen on this better shade, and in our experience this constant plate variety is much scarcer than the popular "Pawnbroker" variety. Unitrade suggests adding up the Pawnbroker price to the price of whatever stamp it is on, and if this were to be done with the Cracked Plate, the catalogue value would be $750 (30e + 30v). One pulled perf at top, else fine and scarce. ex. "G. Marnier" collection. (Image)
