July 14, 1933 Balbo Flight Cover from Shediac NB to Chicago, franked with a $1 Mount Cavell and a 50c Grand Pré, overpaying the rate by 5c. The cover is backstamped Chicago July 15th, 1933, so definitely flown. Light stain on front, else very fine. 289 pieces flown. (Image)
July 14, 1933 Balbo Flight Cover from Shediac NB to Chicago, attractive 12 stamp multi-colour franking that includes 20c and 50c Admirals. Chicago next day receiver, so cover was definitely flown. A very fine and clean cover (Image)
July 25, 1933 Balbo Flight Cover from Shediac NB to Rome, Italy, sent registered and addressed to Fred Jarrett in Rome, with three different Rome backstamp receivers (Aug 12 to 14). Returned to Canada via Montreal and the Ottawa Dead Letter Office to Jarrett in Toronto. The cover is franked with a total of $3.30 (including three different $1 stamps) and has a "Canada Carbon Ribbon Co." corner card and a "Beaver Brand" illustration on back. Tiny bit grubby, still a very interesting and "busy" cover, with only 70 flown pieces. (Image)

Feb. 4, 1935 Experimental Flight Aklavik to Hershell Island and Return, flown by pilot W. Gilbert of Canadian Airways. These two covers were carried at the regular surface rate of 3c, and both are signed by the pilot, both postmasters and W.R. Hale the District Superintendent of Postal Services. Scarce and very fine. Sept. 4-5 1936 First East-West Woman's Trans-Atlantic Solo Flight, by Beryl Markham. Cover has a 5 line cachet and franked with a ½d Edward VIII G.B. stamp on front but no post office markings. Signed by the pilot and includes copies of her obituary. Scarce and very fine. (Image)
March 18, 1938 Edmonton to Aklavik Soviet Search Expedition First Non-Stop Flight, this flight was made after the unsuccessful completion of a search for lost Russian aviators over the Canadian Arctic. Cover is postmarked Edmonton Feb 16 and backstamped Aklavik Feb 18 then re-postmarked Aklavik Mar 18 and backstamped Edmonton the same day. Signed by all the crew, including Sir Hubert Wilkins. Very few of these were carried, very fine. (Image)
July 1938 to January 1940 First Arctic Experimental Mail Test of the North West Passage Route from East to West. Includes two covers, the first mailed at Lake Harrington on July 20, 1938 and the second at Craig Harbour on Aug 26, 1938. Both are certified by R.W. Hale, the postal superintendent who was on the trips. Both covers have Eastern Arctic Mail Aug 31, 1938 Backstamps and Edmonton Jan 27, 1940 receiver datestamps. The Lake Harrington has 5 other signatures, including H. A. Brown, the pilot who flew the mail from Copper Mine to Edmonton. Craig Harbour cover has tape stains. Also includes a Post Office bulletin for the trip which also has tape stains, minor tears, etc. Two seldom seen covers. (Image)

1907 "California Arrow" Dirigible Advertising Covers for the Nova Scotia Provincial Exhibition, the dirigible was supposed to fly at the exhibition but the flight was aborted due to high winds. Includes a May 8, 1907 cover to Boston (one stamp faulty, small creases and overall soiling) and a Sep 21, 1907 cover to Nova Scotia (trimmed at left). (Image)
Aug 2, 1926 Birch Lake and Sioux Lookout Flight Cover, franked with a #CL18c with "Lookott" variety, tied by Birch Lake and Sioux Lookout c.d.s.'s on a pristine cover to Harold Hunter in Toronto. The front of the cover is franked with a 4c Admiral also tied by the Birch Lake c.d.s. and has a red Maple Leaf cachet and a few notations in pen. A nice flight cover, with only 105 covers carried, listed in AAMC as CL18c-2600c. Ex. Algate archives (prior to the Patricia sale) when this was the only known example. Very fine. (Image)
