image Extensive Group of Material Relating to the Design Production of the 1990 39c Dr. Norman Bethune Canada and China Joint Issue, includes a carton containing 10 presentation boards showing near-definitive stamp designs (for Canada and China) and groupings, a large envelope with multiple complete sheets of Chinese and Canadian stamps signed by designers (Jean Morin and Wanda Lewicka), large photographs of Bethune in various settings, photocopy of a Chinese illustrated book on Bethune (in English), a 2-inch binder containing project notes of Mr. Morin, photos of design meetings, an original cassette tape recording of the Canada - China design meeting of July 27, 1987, copies of Bethune photos from the research stage, photocopies of multiple design proposals, some with annotations, colour slides of refused designs, quantity of blocks and pairs of Chinese and Canadian stamps signed by designers, Canadian and Chinese FDCs signed by designers, an extra large envelope containing a colour photograph of a sheet of Chinese stamps signed by the members of the Chinese design team, a framed copy of the stamps over a large photograph of Bethune operating in China near a battlefield, as exhibited at an exhibition by Québec members of the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts, Québec City, May 1998 (light damage to frame, accompanied by exhibition program), plus much more. image Group of c.1970 200c yellow red and black Youth Unissued Design Production Essays, includes perforated stamp sized essay on thin card, a large colour deluxe proof showing an enlarged stamp image and a stamp size image (different than the one we offered in our May 2010 sale), a large deluxe proof of the same in red only and missing the black inscriptions, a large colour essay with perforations mounted on plastic film, and a large portfolio sheet printed by the designers at their Montreal design office in 2019. Five items in all, each signed by their two designers Jean Morin and Yvon Laroche. The design is that of the son of Jean-Pierre Beaudin (who worked with Jean Morin), and was to be used for a Youth issue in relation to the 1970 Osaka exhibition. The picture was used in the Canadian Youth pavilion at the exhibition. (Image)

image Group of c.1970 Unissued 1c to 20c Natural Resources Definitive Issues Production Essays, with a set of the seven values (1c, 2c, 4c, 5c, 6c, 10c and 20c) in large deluxe die essays showing two images of the proposed stamp, in stamp size and enlarged, each in a different colour (the 1c has a stain at bottom). The same seven values are present in an enlarged size with perforations, all in the proposed colours, each mounted on a larger plastic film. The same seven values (in the proposed colours) are presented on large portfolio sheet printed by the designers at their Montreal design office in 2019. Also in the same format are two sheets showing stamp positioning formats. Last but not least is a perforated stamp-sized essay in green and black on thin card. All items in this lot (except the last item described) are signed by their two designers Jean Morin and Yvon Laroche. The project was titled "Projet d'une série de timbres sur les richesses naturelles du Canada" and therefore the 10c depicts fish and the 20c depicts trees. (Image)
