Cat No: 9, 12, 22, 23
1864-65 Lot of Mint Issues, with #9 (total of 24 stamps in singles, pairs and blocks, with at least 5 different shades), 12 (two pairs and a single in three different shades), 22 (total of 45 stamps in singles, pairs and blocks) and 23 (total of 19 stamps in various multiples). There are a great variety of shades here, including some not listed in Scott, so we counted the catalogue value as all cheapest major shade only. The great majority of these are mint never hinged, with a few of the early imperforates being hinged. We have carefully examined these using the Scott and Schloss descriptions on how to identify reprints, and are fairly confident they are regular issues, but we still recommend careful examination or viewing the scans we have online. A few of the imperforates have tiny toning spots, else an overall fine to very fine lot. (Image)

Circa 1901 Unadopted Bradbury and Wilkinson Line Engraved Essay of King Edward VII, in brown, on ungummed and unwatermarked wove paper, denominated at 1d. This is also called the "Canadian Head", as it is identical to Canada's 1903-1908 King Edward VII definitive issue head design. A block of four of this essay (in blue) sold at a large auction house in England in 2006 for £600. We have not otherwise seen this in any of the important GB or Canadian King Edward VII exhibits or literature. Very fine and rare. (Image)
1840 2d blue Queen Victoria Imperforate on White Paper, a group of four used copies, One has four margins (small corner thin), others three or fewer, all cancelled with Maltese Crosses. Overall fine and useful lot for the specialist. (Image)
Plate Reconstruction of 240 Imperforate Penny Reds, with all positions from AA to TL. Stamps also have some postmark interest, including numeral, Maltese Cross, etc, and we note a range from four margins to cut into design on one or more sides, still overall fine. All are scanned online. (Image)
Accumulation of Over 1,300 Used Penny Reds, all in a large ledger book transformed into a stockbook, with imperforate and perforated issues, a great lot for the postmark collector (lots of numerals, Maltese Crosses, etc) or plating enthusiast. Photos only show a few pages, inspect for a better appreciation. Faults as expected, still overall fine. (Image)
