1807 Bombay India to Dunfermline, Scotland, a stampless folded 2 page letter mailed Bombay (dateline 30th July 1807) with unusual London Ship Letter Crowned datestamp dated JAN.4.1808, plus a double circle GPO datestamp dated same day. Also a red datestamp on front which looks like it reads JAN 7? Bit of aging, still very fine. (Image)

Specialized and Extensive Collection of King George VI Era Postal History, all neatly displayed and well written up in six albums plus many loose, with a total of about 500 covers, cards and stationery, well organized by rates (both domestic and foreign). Many better rates noted as well as a great variety of destinations such as Belgian Congo, Iran, Iraq, Bulgaria, Cameroon, Japan, Palestine, Philippines, Goa, Borneo, Canada, to name just a few. Most of the covers in this collection are censored and we note one volume of military mail with concession rates (x16 covers), many FPOs, Indian Army Post Office (x14), other MPOs in Burma, Ceylon, Egypt, Eritrea, Iraq, etc to name a few, as well as other Military items such as Security markings (x5), Raft post (x9) and Prisoner of War (x4). A lovely collection, with great potential for an award winning exhibit, and a once in a lifetime opportunity to acquire such scarce material all together.
