image Old Time Used Collection, 1849 to 1902, in black mounts on quadrille pages in an Elbe album, starts off with a good selection of imperforate Céres and Napoléon issues, followed by same but perforated, then imperforate Bordeaux issues, and so on, and stops just before the Sower issue. Close to complete in period including high values, with an emphasis on shades, postmarks, printings, etc. A great collection for the postmark collector, with many dated, lozenge numerals and more. The catalogue value given is for up to 1876 only (all counted as cheapest, with no premiums given to postmarks, shades or multiples), but the collection continues after that, with a group of 23x Paris star cancels, followed by a decent collection of Sage issues (both perforated and imperforate Colony issues), Mouchon, Merson, etc. Also includes a few mint issues. Overall fine, with some faults as expected (the 1fr Céres was not counted in cv), still many very fine stamps included. (Image)

Reprints are described and not counted, we also did not count the stamps where the value of a used stamps is far superior to a mint one, as we cannot attest to the authenticity of those postmarks (see scans, one example is 5 copies of Baden #25, which would catalogue $2,325 each if authentically used). We noted a 2006 APS certificate (with Bavaria J2 stamp) having a "fake cancellation". A lovely collection containing many shades and postmarks, with much better overall quality than is usually seen for these, some are described in detail (in German). Overall fine to very fine, with obviously faulty stamps not counted. Inspect to better appreciate, volume 2 is lotted separately. (Image)
