image Three Special 1961 Air Mail Covers to South America, each franked with a different commemorative stamp (full set of three) depicting flights to three different South American countries. The cover franked with the Argentina issue was mailed to Argentina, same for Uruguay and same for Peru. All were mailed from Rome in 1961 and all have receiving postmarks as well as commemorative cachets. We note that these stamps were issued on April 4 in anticipation for the April 6 new rate, and these covers are dated on the first day of this new rate (APR.6.1961). Interesting and very fine. image Collection of 125 Stampless Letters, 1504 to 1850s, mostly from the 1820s to 1858 mounted on pages, with at least one from the 1700s. Most are folded letters from Italy, but also a few addressed there (from Marseille) and saw one from Belgium. A very nice quality lot, with very few creases and many different postmarks, rates, destinations (to cities in Italy, London, or addresses in Paris, Marseille, Lyon and other French cities). The 1504 letter is written on vellum. Rarely offered, and a great opportunity for the enthusiast. (Image)
