image FL-Mia, "Sec 34.65(e), PL&R" on UX27 (UPSS S37E), 1941/52 2c Green, 1958 (silent) rubber stamped precancel on card with notice of a meeting to nominate officers of the Miami Typographical Union, Very Fine. a "silent" precancel does not indicate a city or state of mailing, this is the only card reported from this mailingrnNon-profit bulk retained the 1c charge until July 1, 1960. mail As of July 1, 1952, such mail was labeled "Sec 34.65(e), PL&R". On July 1, 1954 this was changed to "39CFR 34.65(e)" and on Dec. 21, 1954 simply as "Non Profit Org", This card, despite its 1958 mailing date, retained the outdated 1952 version. (Image)

image IL-Lit, "Precancelled/ Litchfield, Ill./ Sec. 35.5 P.L.& R." on UX 27 (UPSS S37E0, 1941/52 1c Green on buff, 1948/51 printed precancel on unaddressed card, printed ad for "Oil in Glass" displays for service stations, Very Fine and choice, pictured in "Precanceled Postal Cards 1874-1961" on pg 25rnSec. 35.5 of the P.L.& R. was amended in 1948. The magazine referred to in the ad on the back, "Super Service Station" began in 1945 and was published until 1982. Thus, this card would have been used between 1948 and the end of 1951 when the postal card rate was changed to 2c. (Image)

Lewiston known with "Maine" spelled outrnSouth Lewiston's postmaster at the time, H.W. image NY-Ear2, Earlville, NY on UY7r (UPSS R14), 1915 1c Green on cream, 1951 printed precancel on reply card, back side with ad for "Sherburne Rendering Works" (a "Knacker") with a printed image in line for its offering of "$1 for dead horses and cows if called the same day animal dies" and offering more for old or disabled horses, some light moisture staining, one pass of the press would print the address (and precancel) on one side of the card and the message on the other; just five examples of this card knownrn"Knacker" is an English term for a buyer of worn-out domestic animals or their carcasses for use especially as animal food or fertilizer. The date of use is inferred from an advertisement placed by the Shelburne Rendering Works in the Syracuse Herald Journal issue of Jan 13 1952. (Image)
