image "pr Bigelow's Express," ms at upper left of folded letter datelined "Boston 31st October 1850" and with additional ms "Rail Road Service" at upper right, addressed to Charlestown, New Hampshire, couple vertical file folds at sides through the ms notations, docketing on back indicates Oct 31 "1851", Very Fine, the letter travelled on the Fitchburg RR to Fitchburg, then on the Cheshire RR to Bellow's Falls Vt and finally on the Sullivan RR to its final destination; letters handled by this express service are quite scarcernBeginning about 1846 and until early 1851 when it was acquired by Fiske & Rice, Bigelow's Express operated from Boston to points west and north and received valuable letters and possibly small parcels from its office at the Railroad Exchange.
