image Peruvian Vale, provisional St. Vincent Code "C" datestamp, struck on dispatch alongside the franking on large registered May 16, 1889 envelope from Peruvian Vale to New York, bearing 1885-93 1d Red in two vertical pairs, 4d Chocolate and scarce 6d Violet, all tied by "A10" barred ovals, showing red St. Vincent c.d.s. applied in transit also on face, and arrival on reverse, repaired vertical tear to envelope, a very scarce usage of this datestamp, in this instance used in the early period of this office, which was opened in January 1888 -this c.d.s. type seems to have been into service at this village until 1894-.
