(4) Diff S-Mint better dates incl 1863-S VF+, 1864-S G, 1865-S VG, & 1866-S F. Mostly originals w/ typical marks and imperfections the series is known for. Half dimes circulated extensively in the western states in the 19th Cent. The coin hoarding that was brought about by the Civil War that virtually eliminated silver coins from everyday commerce for over a decade starting in 1861 was mainly an issue for the East and South.
