Internet, Mail, and Phone Auction 3103 - May 31, 2023

Sam Houston Philatelics next auction will close on Wednesday, May 31, 2023 at 1:00 PM, Central Time. The sale contains nearly 800 lots, with material in all price ranges and something for everyone, collectors and dealers alike. A few of the highlights include the following:
  • UNITED STATES, There are (196) U.S. lots offered, with a fine selection of about (90) Classics containing nos. 1a; 21; and 72, Pictorials 1¢ to 24¢, Banknotes, and a nice selection of (11) Columbians. About (20) various Exposition Issues; around (30) Washington/Franklins lots and (26) Modern issues round out this section; the highlight being a nearly complete set of Imperforate Press Sheets of the 1935 Special Printings missing only no. 767 - RARELY OFFERED.
  • COVERS, There are about (80) Cover lots, (14) Commercial, that includes Inauguration and White House items.; and (66) First Day Covers/Sheet lots; of which 19 lots have hand-painted Pugh cachets, each with the brilliant work of Julian and Sharon Pugh.

  • AIRMAIL AND BACK OF BOOK ISSUES, Contains (59) lots, with (19) Air Post stamp lots featuring a complete set of Graf Zeppelin Blocks of 4. Also, there are (40) Back of Book lots, which includes a 50¢ Carmine, J76, that is XF-Superb NH; an exceptional specimen.

  • ERRORS, FREAKS & ODDITIES, (38) Lots of EFO's are offered with misperforations, missing color, printing flaws, etc. Great selection!

  • GENERAL FOREIGN & COLLECTIONS, There are (108) Foreign lots, with a nice selection of sets and singles from Afghanistan to Tonga. There are also some nice lots from Canada, Great Britain, Germany and many other countries. There are (7) U.S. Collections and (12) Foreign Country, World Wide and Topical Collections.

  • AUTOGRAPHS & MISCELLANEOUS, There are (28) lots with (18) Autographs. You'll find a number of interesting autographs, namely Cary Grant, Rudolf Friml and Alan Ladd. The rest include various Memorabilia, Cinderella, and Literature lots.

  • DUCK AND CONSERVATION STAMPS, PRINTS (Federal, Junior and State) contains about (254) lots, with a mix of Federal, State, Governor's Editions and other duck related categories. Included are (16) lots of Souvenir Cards (a couple with Gold number imprinted) , Licenses and FDC's; which includes four with hand-painted Pugh cachets, a couple of duck collections, and (4) Junior Duck Stamp lots. Also, (18) lots of Plate Number Singles, and (90) lots of Federal stamps (Singles - with NH examples of RW1 and 2, Plate Blocks and Graded issues). There (9) Mini-sheet lots, (11) Press Sheet items, and (35) Artist Signed stamps, including a signed RW1 by J N Darling (Ding); (13) State Duck issues, along with (10) Governor's Editions (couple of which are hand-signed), one being 1989 New Hampshire set (4) that includes the Contingency stamp. In addition, there are (17) Foreign and Conservation lots; and (11) Prints being offered: an RW39 1st Edition, and (10) State duck prints, featuring a 1980 Michigan by artist Larry Hayden (deceased).
