Sam Houston Philatelics Sale - 3100

Internet, Mail, and Phone Auction 3100 - February 15, 2023

Sam Houston Philatelics next auction will close on February 15, 2023 at 1:00 PM, Central Time. The sale contains 583 lots, with material in all price ranges and something for everyone, collectors and dealers alike. A few of the highlights include the following:

  • UNITED STATES, There are (67) U.S. lots, with (30) lots of nice Classics, Pictorials and Banknotes. Highlights include Lot 3, an unused #22 with certificate (small flaw), and Lot 28 NH copy of #205 . There are (37) lots among Columbians, Trans-Mississippi, Pan-American, etc., with a few Washington/Franklins. The 1930 to Date section offers (13) lots, with about (5) Graded, mostly GEM 100.
  • COVERS, There are about (60) Cover lots, (6) Commercial selections, and (54) First Day Covers lots, of which (29) have Crosby Raised Printing and/or Photo cachets; and 9 lots with hand-painted Pugh cachets, including seldom offered Early TV Memories Postal Cards; and other complete sets of individual Postal Card sets, each with the brilliant work of Julian and Sharon Pugh.

  • AIRMAIL AND BACK OF BOOK ISSUES, Contains (15) lots, with Airmails and other BOB issues, including a complete set of unused Special Delivery issues, though E2 is flawed.

  • ERRORS, FREAKS & ODDITIES, a half-dozen Lots of EFO's are offered.

  • GENERAL FOREIGN & COLLECTIONS, About (215) lots with a nice selection of sets and singles from Austria to Zaire including a number of Canadian and Great Britain lots, the Falklands, Germany, and a number of other countries, to include Thailand and Zaire. There are (16) U.S. Collections, (34) Foreign Country Collection, including a beatiful mint Bahamas collection and a nice British Asia Collection. Also, (10) World Wide Collections, which includes a French Africa M-U Collection, and (5) Topical and miscellaneous lots.

  • AUTOGRAPHS & MISCELLANEOUS, There are (20) lots with (3) Autographs including a personal check of Captain Eddie Rickenbacker. The are various Cinderella items, Remarqued stamps, Exposition material, and eclectic odds and ends.

  • DUCK AND CONSERVATION STAMPS, PRINTS (Federal, Junior and State) contains about (200) lots with a mix of Federal, State, Governor's Editions and most other categories. Included are (8) lots of FDC's with hand-painted Pugh cachets (beautiful), and a few Junior Duck Stamp lots. There are (66) lots of Federal stamps (singles, Plate Blocks and Graded issues), and (1) Mini-sheet lot. There are (16) Error lots, along with a few nice Press Sheet items. There are (32) Artist Signed Federal stamps, with many early and scarce signatures such as deceased artists Walter Bohl, Owen Gromme and extremely scarce Jack Murray and Walter Weber signatures. (34) State and Foreign duck, along with (8) Governor's Editions lots. Also, there are (12) Indian Reservation, Conservation and Fishing stamp lots. (15) Prints are offered this auction, including a few 1st of State - Arizona, Maine, New Jersey and Oregon.
