Lot 113 - Gibraltar. 1889-96 10c. Carmine with Value Omitted. A Hugely Important Multiple. The unique block of four from the right of the sheet; incredibly fresh and fine, very lightly hinged on the upper horizontal pair leaving the lower pair unmounted. A unique opportunity to aquire this very famous and spectacular multiple of the highest exhibition quality. The 'Lionheart' Collection of Great Britain and British Empire - Part XIV - January 20, 2021

Lionheart part XIV is a varied sale as usual but with even more rarities than ever, a few highlights include the elusive Cape of Good Hope 4d. ‘black triangular’, a 1928 Cyprus £5 mint block of four, an incredibly rare Gibraltar 10c. carmine with value omitted in a marginal block of four and from K.U.T. we have the 1922 £25 formerly part of the Lord Vestey collection; alongside these are some lovely one-country collections and groups and a range of popular sets and single items. Highlights:
  • Highlight 1 - Gibraltar. 1889-96 10c. Carmine with Value Omitted. A Hugely Important Multiple. (Lot 113)
  • Highlight 2 - Barbados. 1861-70 1/-blue error of colour, bright and even colour; a few perforations repaired at right, nevertheless an attractive and fresh example of this popular rarity. (Lot 26)
  • Highlight 3 - British Columbia. 1860 2½d. pale dull red imperforate plate proof from the left of the sheet, large even margins on the remaining three sides, unused without gum, very fresh appearance; rare in such fine condition. (Lot 39)
  • Highlight 4 - Newfoundland. 1919 "Hawker" 3c. brown, signed 'J.A.R.' , the initials of the postmaster, J. A. Robinson, in black on reverse, fresh and fine with large part original gum. Signed G. Bolaffi in pencil. S.G. 142 (Lot 225)
