VERY FINE APPEARANCE. A RARE EXAMPLE OF THE 5-CENT NEW YORK POSTMASTER'S PROVISIONAL ON COVER WITH THE "R" REGISTERED HANDSTAMP OF PHILADELPHIA.

The Philadelphia "R" handstamp is occasionally seen on 5c and 10c 1847 Issue covers, but it is rare on 1845 New York Provisional covers, with fewer than five known (Image)
