3100   3c 1851 Issue, Off-Cover Balance (11-11A). More than 400 stamps arranged on stock sheets, gathered by Jerry Wagshal for varieties or cancels that interested him, incl. "Gents", major plate cracks (84/94 L5L), other plate flaws, recuts, triple transfers, shade varieties, pair with interesting sawtooth perforations (P.F. certificate decline opinion), as well as a nice range of cancels with red and blue numeral "3" handstamps, "Steam 5" oval, "Paid", seven "Way", numerous town datestamps -- many in color and many on piece to preserve the full strike, a page of multiples showing pairs, strips of three and a strip of six (ex Amonette), also a few proofs, some faults as is inevitable in a group this large, but a large number of sound and attractive stamps, not the typical lower quality accumulation of an inexpensive stamp, Mr. Wagshal was well known to devote as much of his considerable interest and energy to the study of inexpensive varieties as to the study of his great rarities, this accumulation is a testament to that
