VERY FINE. A MARVELOUS PIECE OF AMERICANA, AND ONE OF RONALD REAGAN'S LAST LETTERS WRITTEN SHORTLY BEFORE HE ANNOUNCED TO THE NATION THAT HE WAS SUFFERING FROM ALZHEIMERS.

The recipient, Lydia Hupfer "Hup" MacArthur, was the widow of Peter MacArthur, program director at radio station WOC in Davenport Iowa, who gave Ronald Reagan his first job as a sports announcer. This helped launch Reagan's career, and they remained close friends. The letter offered here was written in September of 1994, just before Reagan's famous letter of November 5, 1994 announcing his Alzheimers.
