VERY FINE AND CHOICE. THE UNIQUE TOP LEFT CORNER SELVAGE BLOCK WITH TOP STAMPS THE "CANAL" ONLY VARIETY AND BOTTOM STAMPS THE "ZONE CANAL" VARIETY. ONLY TWENTY SUCH COMBINATION PAIRS WERE PRINTED.

This variety was created when the sheet was shifted downwards during overprinting. 180 stamps bear the "Zone Canal" variety. Only twenty were printed with "Canal" only. It is believed the bottom panes were destroyed.
