EXTREMELY FINE. A SPECTACULAR DESIGN WITH THE FORMERLY BEARDLESS PORTRAIT EMBELLISHED WITH LINCOLN'S NEW WHISKERS AND CROSSED FLAGS ADDED FOR PATRIOTIC SENTIMENT.

The original portrait of a beardless Lincoln is based on a photograph by C. S. German and was used by Whittemore & Co. during the 1860 campaign. After Lincoln's election, the engraving was modified by adding a beard.
