Mar. 12 (ca. 1864-65) circular datestamp on cover to Paterson N.J.<><>^EXTREMWestervelt's Post, Chester N.Y., (1c) Red on Pink (144L9). Full to large margins, bright color, used with 3c Rose (65), both stamps tied by 10-bar grid, "Chester N.Y. Mar. 12" (ca. 1864-65) circular datestamp on cover to Paterson N.J.

EXTREMELY FINE. ONE OF THE FINEST OF THE FEW TIED EXAMPLES OF THE WESTERVELT POST 1864 INDIAN HEAD ISSUE ON COVER.

We are aware of at least four covers with this Westervelt Post stamp tied by a handstamp. Comparing this cover with our photo records, we feel confident saying the quality of this example surpasses the others.
