A SPECTACULAR IMPRINT AND PLATE NUMBER MULTIPLE OF THE 1851 ONE-CENT IMPERFORATE TYPE II FROM PLATE 2. VERY FEW PLATE NUMBER EXAMPLES OF THIS ISSUE EXIST, AND BLOCKS WITH ORIGINAL GUM ARE EXCEEDINGLY RARE. THE IDEAL EXHIBITION PIECE FOR THE ONE-CENT 1851 SPECIALIST.
According to the Chapin census, this is the third largest imprint and plate number multiple from either pane of imperforate 1c 1851 Type II stamps. It is the largest plate number multiple known from the left pane, and only two plate blocks of eight are recorded (both from the right pane).
