THIS RE-USE PREVENTION ESSAY, WITH2c Orange, Internal Revenue, Re-Use Prevention Essay (Turner 46). Original gum, with large "U S 2" overprint and with re-use prevention slits, small flaws to be expected on such a fragile item

FINE AND RARE. THIS RE-USE PREVENTION ESSAY, WITH ITS DISTINCTIVE OVERPRINT AND PRECUT SLITS, IS A GREAT RARITY.

This Revenue essay is similar to those listed in the Scott Catalogue as Nos. 79-E1 thru 79-E4, which were produced around 1867, at the same time as the regular grilled issue was being designed. It is the only Turner-listed essay based on a stamp which was actually produced, and in this respect is similar to one with the Black Jack design. (Image)
