A search of our auctions since 1993, plus a search of every Rarities sale, indicates that we have only offered four other blocks of four in this shade. Given its rarity, this seems very undercatalogued in Scott --the price for four singles is $10,400.00, versus $11,500.00 for the block--only a 10% premium for something which is many times scarcer. If the two stamps had not been removed at right, this would be a full plate block of six worth $300,000 to $400,000. In any case, this plate no. and part imprint block is rare and very exhibit-worthy.
