1609   Cigar Stamps Collection. Over 200 cigar strip stamps mounted in two artist's drawing pads, good representation from the 1863 Inspector's stamps through Series of 1910, overall condition is Very Fine although we do see some damaged and mended stamps which is usual for these, many high denominations, some small cigars, Customs and Puerto Rico ovpts., also noted are four counterfeit stamps, identified by the owner, incl. seven sheets of the 1864 Inspector's stamp (one framed), incl. TC10, 11, 15 (two), 17-18 and 21 and a sheet of the Puerto Rican strip stamps, rare lot E. 7,500-10,000

1610   Cigarette Stamps. Amazing collection of all issues from the Series of 1868 through Series 125, incl. Class A, B and Customs Cigarettes, mounted in three spiral-bound artist's sketch books, Mr. Tolman's eye for quality is evident as overall condition is Very Fine for these stamps that are usually hard to find in decent condition, the collection contains single stamps, some multiples, a few proofs (twelve each 1883 10 and 20 Cigarettes and four each 50 and 100 Cigarettes) and several flattened cigarette packs demonstrating usage, Puerto Rico usages are well-represented, as are Customs, Customs Reimported and Cigarettes for Export Provisional stamps, there are several unlisted items as well, there are studies of cancels, printings, papers and marginal markings, also two additional collections on pages provide material for further study. Also several full and part sheets of stamps and "Free of Tax" labels E. 7,500-10,000

Accumulation of several thousand duplicates contained in an artist's sketch book, issues range from 1868 throgh Series 125, condition is mixed but overall generally Fine-Very Fine for these, noted are pairs in the 1868 Issue as well as a six ounce class 32 (TG5), 1872 Provisionals with an unlisted sixteen ounce, 1875 Provisionals with a sixteen ounce inverted surcharge (TG59E i), etc., also incl. five full sheets of stamps from 1902-10 and sheets and part sheets of "Free of Tax" labels, a gold mine for the specialist that will require hours to sort and a chance of discovering new varieties E. 2,000-3,000

1613   Cigar Strip Stamps Collection. Impressive showing of approximately 170 stamps in a large album, incl. Customs Cigars issues of 1867, 1868, 1871, 1873, 1875 and 1879, then Regular Issues of 1863, 1864 Provisional, 1864, 1866, 1867, 1868, 1869, 1871, 1872, 1875 Provisional (ms. surcharge, printed or handstamped on Series of 1868 and 1869), 1875, 1878, 1883 Provisional,1883, 1891, Overprinted "Series of 1898" and 1901, generally three or four different quantities are represented for each issue of the "25", "50", "100", "250" and "500" Cigars issued or in the case of Inspector's stamps, various dollar values, there are paper colors and different separations (perforated and rouletted), a couple of multiples and few unused, a really attractive collection and in overall nice condition, also incl. some unrelated miscellaneous material as an old falling apart foreign collection (nothing valuable noted), hundreds of precancels in glassines, some unused booklets, unused postal cards and unused or "Specimen" overprinted entires E. 3,000-4,000

1614   Tin-Foil Tobacco Tax Paid stamps. Mr. Tolman's collection of approximately 50 high denomination tin-foils dating from 1879 through 1902, the 1879 and 1883 four and eight ounce wrappers are present as are nearly all of the one and two-third and two ounce wrappers of the period, all in outstanding condition, also incl. are over 500 mostly one ounce tin-foil wrappers contained in various ledgers, boxes and files, many of these with faults, mounted or deteriorated, nevertheless there is much good material here and this could be the basis of a Very Fine tin-foil tobacco wrapper collection E. 4,000-5,000
