Lot Sym. Lot Description
3554 c image10c Dark Green, First Design (62B). Two, each with one row of double vertical perfs, tied by "Benicia Cal. VERY FINE. AN EXTREMELY RARE COMBINATION OF TWO 1861 10-CENT TYPE I "FIRST DESIGN" STAMPS ON A 10-CENT 1861 NESBITT ENTIRE FOR THE TRIPLE TRANSCONTINENTAL RATE.

Although the 10c 1861 was used extensively on transcontinental mail, multiple rates are scarce, and multiple frankings with the short-production 10c Type I are rare. (Image)
