FINE-VERY FINE. A RARE USED MULTIPLE OF THE 5-CENT 1847 ISSUE.
Scott value for two pairs does not remotely reflect premium for a strip of this size (Image)
A FINE-APPEARING AND RARE STRIP THAT WAS PROBABLY USED TO PAY 24-CENT TREATY RATE TO ENGLAND.
The 1847 Issue was rarely used to pay the 1848 U.S.-British treaty rate, but we suspect that this intact strip of five represents the typical 1c overpayment of 24c rate, rather than a 5-times 5c domestic rate. (Image)
EXTREMELY FINE APPEARANCE. A BEAUTIFUL AND RARE CORNER MARGIN EXAMPLE OF THE 5-CENT 1847 ISSUE IN THE BROWN ORANGE COLOR, WHICH HAS RECENTLY BEEN GIVEN A SEPARATE SCOTT CATALOGUE LISTING. ONE OF THE FEW FULL CORNER-MARGIN EXAMPLES OF THE 5-CENT 1847 IN EXISTENCE.
Ex Dr. Morris. With 1996 Calvet M. Hahn analysis and 2002 P.F. certificate. (Image)
