VERY FINE EXAMPLE OF THE 2-CENT 1875 CONTINENTAL BANK NOTE COMPANY SPECIAL PRINTING.

Our recently completed review of records found only 55 copies of Scott 168 certified as genuine. Of these, 22 have straight edges on at least one side and several are faulty.

VERY FINE APPEARANCE. A RARE USED EXAMPLE OF THE 24-CENT 1875 CONTINENTAL BANK NOTE COMPANY SPECIAL PRINTING. LESS THAN FIVE USED EXAMPLES ARE KNOWN.

There are no known used examples of the soft paper American Bank Note Co. special printings. For the hard paper Continental Bank Note Co. special printings, the 3c and 24c are known used. The most spectacular example is of Scott No. 169 on a cover, cancelled at the Centennial Exposition.

EXTREMELY FINE GEM. A SUPERB EXAMPLE OF THE 1875 90-CENT CONTINENTAL BANK NOTE COMPANY SPECIAL PRINTING. ONE OF THE RAREST SPECIAL PRINTINGS IN SOUND AND CENTERED CONDITION.

Our recent review of records at the Philatelic Foundation found only 44 certified examples of Scott 177. Of these, most are either straight edge on one side from scissors-separation, are off-center or have small faults. Very few are in as pristine condition as the example offered here.
