Engelbrecht (San Francisco) cigar and tobacco merchant's lithographed advertisement on 3c Pink entire (U58) to San Francisco, from the McKay correspondence, Wells, Fargo & Co.'s blue oval "Paid" handstamp at bottom right, barely reduced at left and some slight overall wear, Very Fine, only a few examples of this striking frank are known, all are printed on the Engelbrecht advertisement, which suggests that this was a special print run to obliterate the old ad (Image) E. 1,500-2,000

Complete sheet of 40 comprising right and left panes, Position R9 is the "Broken Leg" flaw, creases, tears and damaged at bottom, nonetheless an important and rare (three known) sheet of the $1.00 Pony Express stamp, this issue was officially authorized by the U.S. Congress and therefore should be considered a semi-official U.S. stamp (much more so than the Vin Fiz or Buffalo Balloon private airpost stamps), ex Golden, illustrated in Nathan book on p. 71 (Image) 7,000.00
