Brown & Son was a Boston-based patent medicine manufacturer and marketer, Brown's Bronchial Troches was advertised as a tonic for the throat and breathing passages with endorsements from singers, teachers, ministers and others, the firm was later associated with the sale of the notorious "Mrs. Winslow's Soothing Syrup," a morphine and alcohol-based concoction that caused the deaths of hundreds of children through overdoses, ex Lilly, Ford and Litle (Image)

VERY FINE. A CHOICE EXAMPLE OF THE 24-CENT GAULT ENCASEMENT WITH RIBBED FRAME. VERY FEW ARE KNOWN.

The Ford sale catalogue (Stack's 6/23/2004, lot 509) states that there are probably fewer than five or six of the 24c Ribbed Frame known.
