729 c ImageUnited States and France Transatlantic Mails, Study Group. 33 covers sent in both directions, most are stampless with a few franked with U.S. or French stamps, wide range of uses, rates and markings from throughout the period of study including pre-1857 treaty, treaty period and post-treaty period, a number of better markings including "COLONIES/&c ART.", depreciated currency, wide range of French entry and origin datestamps, steamer lines including Cunard, Inman, HAPAG, Allan, Ocean, Liverpool Southern Steamship Co., these are generally $100 to $200 covers but a few are worth more, overall a Very Fine and fascinating group, the postal history interest in this group along with Mr. Walske's detailed notes on rates and sailings compelled us to write up each cover as though an individual auction lot, those descriptions along with a full scan of the group are available here (Image)
