3426 c The Calvet M. Hahn Collection of Stampless "Way" Covers. Approximately 100 folded letters/covers, all with various forms of "Way" markings and rates (typically plus 1c), which were applied to letters picked up or delivered by postmen at some point between their normal stopping points along the postal route, this collection focuses on the Northeast (way mail is more common in the South), the majority from New York State, some early examples, most with manuscript "Way" notations and rates, several have handstamped markings, almost every cover has a typed label with Mr. Hahn's copious notes, some faults to be expected in a study collection of this kind, but overall Fine-Very Fine, an excellent foundation for further study, also a potentially lucrative source of covers for the retail dealer who asks exorbitant prices from town or regional specialists who are compelled to have a relevant "way" cover

3428 c Miscellaneous Stampless Cover Balance from the Calvet M. Hahn Collection. Balance of more than 110 stampless covers from the Hahn collection, these items did not fit into any group theme, as such a nice variety of towns, usages and postmarks -- both manuscript and circular datestamps -- many are New York but we note several other states as well, lots of content, includes small reference collection of fake markings, worth careful inspection as Mr. Hahn had a penchant for finding the unusual
