1343   imageNew Zealand, 1945 (Aug. 2) Japanese Prisoner of War Postcard. NZ Post provided special cards that could be used to contact Prisoners of War held by the Japanese. This card, mailed in Newmarket Aug 2, 1945, to a prisoner held in Camp 1 in Thailand. Only three such cards are known.

1345   imageNew Zealand, 1946-48 RNZAF Flights from Occupied Japan to NZ. After the war NZ provided occupation troops in Japan. Mail was flown by the RNZAF to and from these troops. Two (2) examples of such mail, one an Air Letter mailed in 1946 from NZAPO 222 in Japan to Littleton, NZ, and the other a cover from same APO addressed to Auckland in 1948, with outstanding "Hubba-Hubba" cachet. Both transported free of postage.

1346   imageNew Zealand, New and Resumed Postwar Services. After the war Pan Am resumed FAM 19 service to NZ, BOAC resumed service between Hong Kong and NZ in conjunction with TEAL, QUE and CNAC, and ANA began a new service to San Francisco and Vancouver. Four (4) covers flown on these services, including NZAMC 286c, the scarce ANA first flight.

1349   imageNew Zealand, 1947 Boxed Instructional Handstamp "By Air to London Only". Air Letter mailed to Stockholm, Sweden, in 1947 from Auckland, underfranked for airmail all the way. Auckland applied boxed instructional handstamp. Airmail was canceled in London using red roller-type jusqu'a marking. Only five uses of this instructional marking are known.

1350   imageNew Zealand, 1947-48 New Letter Rates for Airmail Service to the Americas. Two airlines, B.C.P.A. and P.A.A. now carried mail from NZ to the Americas. Four (4) examples showing the rates on some of these flights. BCPA covers to Edmonton (Canada), San Jose (Costa Rica), West Chester (Pennsylvania) with "Late Fee" and "British Pacific Service" boxed markings applied twice, and a PAA cover to New York.
