963 Scott No. 17a image1851, 12¢ black, diagonal bisect (Scott 17a), a handsome example with margins as large as they come on this rare bisect, tied by lightly struck San Francisco cancel on a dark brown cover to Philadelphia; some really minor cover edge wear mentioned only for perfect accuracy, this is a great cover of exhibition quality, Very Fine, with clear 1981 P.F. certificate.

964 Scott No. 17a image1851, 12¢ black, diagonal bisect (Scott 17a), nice margins, tied by bold San Francisco cancel on a blue folded letter to Boston, clearly marked DUE 10 at top (the San Francisco Post Office not recognizing the validity of this bisect); the letter with internal splits (mostly hinge reinforced, and on the back), otherwise Very Fine, a pretty example of this rarity, with 2010 P.F. certificate, plus a 1947 P.F. certificate that is itself a bit of an antique.
