The final quarter of 2009 was also very successful acquiring material and in this sale you will find numerous interesting lots from many different owners and estates. The single section is very well rounded containing both United States and Worldwide issues. Never at one time have we had so many inverted varieties. For example the famous "CIA" invert, the Canadian "Seaway" invert, an Iran invert, (Scott 927a), and finally several Canal Zone inverts. Speaking of Canal Zone, you will discover an impressive U.S. Possession section including several dozen Hawaiian numerals. In the worldwide again, there is another notable grouping of Middle East. Our auctions have become renowned for the United States and Worldwide collection and accumulation section, many from estates. Sale 403 lives up to that distinction, with several dozen being offered. The top four are as follows, 18 albums sold individually from Florida with an presale estimate of $60,000, over 99 albums sold intact from a retired Colonel from Montana with an presale estimate of $35,000, 4 stuffed Internationals up to 1940 from the Rocky Mountain State with presale estimate of $25,000, and finally the Carbondale estate in several lots with an presale estimate of over $18,000. This auction starts with extensive Canada and Provinces, and contains a good solid selection of larger lots and collections, plenty of choice 19th century material with stamps, proofs and covers, better imperforates (complete Quebec issue), modern varieties, booklets, Airmails including a RARE semi-official London to London mint stamp, plus Scadta Airs, flight covers, Officials, Revenues, Newfoundland, etc. The third session is entirely Great Britain with several Penny Blacks, and larger collections, plus British Commonwealth with many larger lots and collections, country collections and many better individual rarities such as a St. Helena Tristan Relief set, Solomon Is. imperforate pair, etc. The sale ends with a huge section of foreign with shelves packed full of estates and intact consignments and better-than-usual sections of Austria, Germany and USA as well as individual rarities such as a Russian Offices in China inverted overprint, a rare U.S. Coil line pair, etc. All in all, a well-rounded auction, with something for everyone. We hope you find something of interest in the sale. Dynamic Internet Bidding at StampAuctionNetwork.
In the Canada section, there is a choice selection of early 1851-1860s Pence and Cents postally used stamps and proofs, followed by a large range of scarcer imperforate pairs and high-quality mint stamps from late Queen Victoria to King George VI era. The Canada large lots and collections section is impressive and powerful throughout; many substantial collections are being offered intact and unpicked. email: easternauctions@nb.aibn.com
