Rasdale Stamp Company - 412th Public Auction - May 19, 2012
After what seemed to be a very short winter we are all settled in our remodeled facilities. The February auction ran very smoothly. The customers appreciated
the auction gallery next door to the viewing area in addition to the lounge area offering a quiet getaway from the auction for a beverage, relaxation and conversation.
The highlight for this auction is the largest section of PRC we have ever offered with over 115 single lots and a monstrous remainder collection with a $23,500.00
suggested bid. There are respectable sections of France, Germany and Italian States, and as per usual bulk is being offered with well over 1,000 large cartons to small
boxes. Our August auction has gotten off to a good start with 56 cartons arriving from two consignments as we are about to go to press with this catalog. Finally,
our Facebook page has gone through some changes so we invite you to friend us today.

This auction features a wonderful selection of early 20th century issues including many U.S. Classics, Banknotes, Columbians, Trans-Mississippis, Plate Blocks, and Revenues, plus almost 100 incredible Errors, Freaks & Oddities. And, of course the auction would not be complete without a large selection of USA and Worldwide collections – many with NO RESERVE!

Other important highlights include two 1875 Special Printings for the 10¢ and 24¢ Banknotes (Scott 172, lot 1093 and Scott 175, lot 1094); a gorgeous 1898 5¢ Trans-Mississippi Graded 95 (Scott 288, lot 1351); and, a scarce 1920 Washington 2¢ Type VII imperforate pair (Scott 534b, lot 1661).

There is also nice foreign singles and sets, USA and Worldwide covers, and plenty of country collections. Among the highlights in the British section is a rarely seen Newfoundland 1919 Hawker Flight 3¢ red brown overprinted (Scott C1 cats $25,000, lot 2528); and in the foreign section a 1964 China PRC Mei Lan-Fang Drunken Beauty $3 S/S (Scott 628 cats $12,500, lot 2555).
Much can be found of interest amongst the nearly 300 collections and box lots of USA, British and Worldwide lots. Among the standouts is lot 2877 – a powerful USA collection in mounts in a Harris Liberty Album with $45,000 catalog. There’s much more as well – but when it comes to these collections, the fun is in the hunt!
