Cons 13-1865 sub 22-1865, two bisects of the same stamp used on two cover fronts to Durango to different recipients, both canceled by bold boxed Gavilanes handstamps (Schatzkes 256) with manuscript "Nov 16/65" below on each; one reduced and repaired at right, otherwise Very Fine, an extremely rare usage with only 50 from this sub-consignment sent.

BELIEVED TO BE THE ONLY KNOWN MINT EXAMPLE OF THE 1866 ½ EAGLE ISSUE FROM THE FIFTH PERIOD -A GREAT EAGLE ISSUE RARITY.

This issue is only known from two consignments, 1-1866 and 17-1866 (both Mexico districts). It is believed that only 400 where sent in 1866. About ten used examples are known of which most are faulty.

Cons 1-1866, Mexico town cancel, ample to mostly large margins; crease and thin, Very Fine appearance, except for 400 lilacs divided between consignments 1 and 17, all 1866 medios are gray, with a low survival rate, these "Fifth Period Lilacs" are very rare - around ten used example are known all having some sort of fault, this is probably the finest looking example of this important rarity, having big even margins.
