Kingsley reading "After having seen for yourself the City of San Francisco, and observed the great commercial advantages as well as its importance not only to this Coast, but to our whole country; also having inspected the property of the Pacific Mail Steam Ship Company, including their Steamers employed on the China route; I beg it consistent with your views of propriety that you will obtain the signatures of sich of the meinent gentlemen of your Hon. Board of Trade of Boston. [as would be willin to aid our Company in procuring an increase of subsidy] to a telegram addressed to the Hon. Wm. Twitchill. AN EXCEPTIONAL RESEARCH GROUP OF EARLY MAIL TO BURMA.

This lot of covers was found stuffed inside a bible. The bible was in a box of books that were paper of a lower value stamp collection from the 1950s that was purchased from a local woman and remained until now. Some research notes on Reverend Isaac David Colburn who was born in 1831 at Hudson N.H. At age 16, he was converted and baptized into the Baptist church. He was active in church life and soon the church voted him a license to preach. He began his studies at New Hampton N.H. In 1855, he entered Brown University. He determined to give his life to missions and entered Newton Theological Institution in the class of 1863. After graduation he married Mary, a teacher at the seminary at Townsend Vt. They later went to Burma where his life's work was done, returning home in 1880. (Image1) (Image2)

A REMARKABLE TRANSATLANTIC FOLDED LETTER FROM SINGAPORE VIA INDIA AND BELGIUM, CARRIED TRANSATLANTIC ON THE FINAL VOYAGE OF THE BELGIAN "BRITISH QUEEN".

This cover took a remarkable journey from Singapore to the United States. Some interesting content including "…You will learn soon enough the disaterour termination of the Voyage in the "New Orleans". We sprung a heavy leak while taking in cargo on the West Coast of Sumatra, before getting the ship quite full of pepper, was obliged to hear for some port for examination and repairs. This port being the nearest which gave facilities for such repairs as should be found necessary to … the final object of the Voyage… The extent of repairs, was estimated much greater than the value of the ship in the best condition. She was therefore order to be sold…" and postscript reads "I sail for Antwerp with the cargo of the New Orleans in an English Bark called the William Mitchel". (Image1)		 Est. $4,000-6,000
