Status International - Sale 248 - July 10, 2008 Our auction 248 has 3666 lots catering for all types of collectors & dealers. From bulk accumulations to intact collections to desirable single items. The auction offers a huge range of material, with special emphasis on lotting stamps to cater for collectors with varying types of interests and budgets with items from $30 to $30,000 so something for everybody. This auction offers strong representation of Australia & Colonies, strong British Empire material of all areas & periods, as well as Europe & other Foreign. The auction starts with our usually extensive sections of Collections, Accumulations, Bulk & Mixed Lots, as well as some Philatelic Literature. Australia has material covering all periods, from the Kangaroo issues up to numerous mint & used £1 & £2 top values, plus many specialist items such as monogrames, imprints, proofs & varieties. Then an extensive KGV period section with good showing of varieties & shades. Later issues include some rare modern errors & proofs. Australian Colonies has both standard issues as well specialist material, particularly postmarks & covers.

Great Britain is well represented with QV high values with numerous QV £1 stamps and Specimen O/P's includes 1867-83 Brown-lilac, wmk "maltese Cross" letters HG opt SPECIMEN and modern issues including booklets. Highlights include Mafeking Siege 1900 stamps and covers in the Cape of Good Hope-Boer War section. Some rare stamps of Baden-Powell in this section. Other British Empire is well represented, including KUT, 1904-07 KEVII 50R grey-red brown and 1922-27 £10 KGV black & green, Natal include Arms values of the 1857-61 series, Nyasaland 1908-11 KEVII £10 and Transvaal key high values £5 ( all with certs) and Falkland Islands 1960 Bird 6d Die Proof, . Malaya - North Borneo high values, £5 and £10 (all with certs), and many others. European countries includes an outstanding French collection 1849-2008 in 3 lots, Russian singles and acollection from Russia to Soviet Union (1945-59) and Zeppelin polar flight registered covers. Germany is extremely well represented with a large quantity of lots including range of Colonies and States as well as Airmails including rare semi-officials. Switzerland collections from 1878-2006 and many early scarce values. Asian countries include China from Republic to PRC includes many Cultural Revolution stamps with the rare 1968 "all China is Red" 8f stamp and 1970-80's era sets and stamps. Hong kong includes very rare QV $1/96c Black w/o chinese h/s MLH, several KEVII & KGV $10 values, Japan is well represented includes 1919 First Airmail Tokyo-Osaka O/P's with Cert and Thailand includes early Rama V and Rama VI stamps and sets.
